Board of Review
The three person Swartz Creek Board of Review convenes three days in March in order to hear property owners’ questions regarding the current year assessments on real and personal property. In order to proceed to the State Tax Commission it is necessary to first voice your protest and seek relief before the local Board of Review.
Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meets monthly on the third Tuesday of the month at 5:30 pm in the conference room of City Hall, as needed. The Board researches and analyzes the needs and facilities in the City.
Planning Commission
The Planning Commission meets the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm at City Hall, as needed. This nine member group advises City Council regarding future land use needs and proposed developments. They work closely with City Administrative staff, developers and contractors to assure that new development adheres to local planning and zoning requirements, and is compatible with existing uses.

Zoning Board of Appeals
The Zoning Board of Appeals has five members and two alternates. The group meets on an “as needed” basis; the third Wednesday of each month, to consider requests to deviate from City codes and ordinances. The board meets annually on the third Wednesday of March for the selection of officers. If need and undue hardship are demonstrated to the satisfaction of the Zoning Board, variation from established requirements can be granted.

Downtown Development Authority Board
The DDA Board meets the second Thursday of each month at 6:00 pm in the City Council Chambers. The Board encourages diverse business and residential activities in the downtown area through investment in the public infrastructure, improvement of vehicular and pedestrian circulation and enhancement of the economic climate. The ultimate goal is to create a vibrant downtown that serves the entire city through unique retail, service, entertainment and residential options.
