FINGERPRINTING: The Department provides Court Ordered fingerprints only. Applicant fingerprinting is now provided by State of Michigan approved vendors. Applicants requiring fingerprinting may call 1-866-226-2952 for an appointment or access the IIS web site at www.identix.com/iis.
GUN REGISTRATION: Gun registration is provided for Swartz Creek City residents. Non residents must register guns with the law enforcement agency that governs their residence. If are unsure of which agency is responsible for registering your gun, you may call 810-635-4401 during regular business hours for assistance.
CONCEALED WEAPON Information packets for CCW permits are available at the adminstrative office. However, the Genesee County Sheriff's Department is responsible for processing CCW applications. If you would like additional information on the CCW law, brochures are available at this office.
BICYCLE REGISTRATION: Dozens of bicycles are recovered by the Department each year. Most of these
bicycles are not registered and our
officers have no way of
determining ownership. Registering a bicycle with the department with aid law
enforcement in getting these bicycles back
the their rightful owners. Even if the
bicycle is recovered by another Police
Agency, ownership may be determined if the registration is still in tact on the
bicycle. Registration is available at the
Police Department during regular business
hours. It is not necessary to bring the
bicycle with you as long as you bring all
the pertinent description information. In
addition, registration creates a permanent record of decription information about your bicycle.
REPORT COPIES: Copies of complaints and accident reports are available at the Administrative Offices
during regular business hours. Fees vary.

CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK: The Department will provide Local criminal record checks for local residents for the purpose of employment, occupancy, and military eligibility requirements. Citizens must provide a records check form from their employer, landlord, or military recruiter. Statewide record checks are available from the State of Michigan on the internet at www.ICHAT.gov. There is a $10.00 Fee. Additional information is available from the Michigan State Police in Lansing at 517-322-1956.
