Parks & Recreation

The City of Swartz Creek operates numerous parks facilities. The two largest parks, Winshall and Elms, offer many recreational amenities including: baseball, soccer, & softball fields, basketball, volleyball, & tennis courts, and play-yard equipment for all ages of youths. The parks also offer a full range of accomodations for groups such as restrooms, pavillions, and BBQ grills. In the winter time, both parks offer sleding, and an ice skating pond is created at Elms Park.

Elms and Winshall parks are also available for daily pavillion and ball diamond rentals are available for parties and gatherings during the summer. Reservations are taken beginning on the first business day of the calender year. Due to popularity, weekend reservations for many of the pavillions are booked as soon as mid-January or Feburary. It is recommended that reservations for large parties are made well in advance. Fees for reservations vary depending on residency status, location, and pavillion but generally range from $35 to $100.

For more information or to make a reservation please contact City Hall at (810) 635-4464 or you can download a reservation form by clicking here. Please call ahead to confirm availability of a pavillion before filling out the reservation form.

In addition to Elms and Winshall Parks, the City maintains a small park in the downtown, Bicentenial Park. This park provides a first-come, first-serve pavillion to residents.

At this time, the City is also in the planning stages for the development of an extensive trailway network and an additional park on the North-east side. The trailway would consist of approximately 8 miles of ashphalt paving and bike lanes that would traverse many natural areas, as well as the downtown and surrounding residential neighborhoods. The new park is being designed to act as a trailhead for the network and is also planned to provide up to three baseball diamonds and other recreational amenities. If you are interested in becoming a part of the planning process, please contact Tom Svrcek or Adam Zettel at City Hall.
