Employment

The Department employes both full time and part time officers. Applications and resumes are accepted continually and retained for a one year period. Following is a primary list of minimum qualifications for full-time police officers:

1.)Twenty-one years of age or older
2.) High School Graduate or Equivalent Post secondary education
3.) Training and/or experience in law enforcement substantantually equivalent to an associate's degree in Criminal Justice
4.) Valid Michigan Class O Driver's License
5.) Satisfactory driving record
6.) MCOLES Certified or Certifiable
7.) No disqualifying criminal record
8.) Good moral character
9.) Ability to pass job related physical examination, including: drug screen, and psychological examination
10.) Ability ot pass comprehensive background investigation
11.) Ability to successfully complete field training during probationary period.

As the need to hire officers arises, applications on file will be reviewed and contacts made. Applicants selected for screening will be contacted and an interview scheduled.
